Wigan Athletic have registered an interest in signing Liverpool youngster Luke Chambers on loan.
This according to the reliable Paul Joyce, with the League One side currently wallowing in 18th place in the standings.
Luke Chambers has featured for Jurgen Klopp’s team this season, managing to make three appearances in the Europa League including two matches in the starting eleven.
The 19-year-old has been at Liverpool since the age of six, joining the club’s academy and slowly working his way through the various youth levels.
Chambers was also part of the England U19 side that won European Championship back in 2022.
He last spent time on loan with Scottish side Kilmarnock during the second half of last season, making 16 appearances for the cinch Premiership side.
The youngster also previously spoke on how he is modelling his playstyle off of none other than Virgil van Dijk:
“I think I’m more of a stay-on-my-feet defender, I don’t really rush into a lot of stuff, I’m more careful about my positioning,” Chambers began.
“That’s why I intercept quite a lot of passes and I’m on the front foot and read the play well.”
“When you watch Virg defending, he’s so elegant and he reads the game very well.”
“I think they’re the best kind of defenders in this day and age.”
With Owen Beck now being recalled from his loan up in Scotland with Dundee, perhaps Luke Chambers’ best option would be a loan spell in the lower leagues.
