Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Genoa midfielder Morten Frendup this January transfer window.
While concluding a deal for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, it seems the North London club have caught wind of Frendrup.
This is according to a report from Give Me Sport, who claim that Spurs have been ‘impressed by the qualities’ of the Danish midfielder.
Tottenham have had injuries to players in midfield such as Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma to name a few.
Therefore, it would make sense why Ange Postecoglou is sniffing around Frendup this month.
Liverpool and Tottenham eyeing the ‘best tackler in Serie A’
Frendrup leads Serie A this season for total tackles (72), highlighting his tendency to seek the ball out and break up play [FBref].
He also registered the most tackles won (37) and is inside the top 5 for blocks made this season in Serie A (30).
From these impressive stats, we can see that Frendrup is not scared of the ‘dirty’ side of the game.
It would be interesting to what Frendrup values in the event of possible transfer race between the two sides.
At Tottenham, he would no doubt see more minutes and have a chance to usher in a new era under Postecoglou.
However, at Anfield, the 22-year-old will have a chance at major honours while playing at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
It’s important to note that his non-homegrown status is thought to be a mitigating factor at this early stage.
