The Reds have often neglected picking up players from the Championship for many reasons but have dipped into England’s second tier on occasion for starlets such as Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott.

However, according to 90min, LFC are keeping an eye on Blackburn Rover’s Adam Wharton amid their ‘long term interest’ in the youngster.

Although the report claims that Tottenham Hotspur are most invested club, Liverpool is part of a lengthy list of long-term admirers of the Rovers youth product.

The 19-year-old broke into Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side last season and is now believed to be one of the Championship’s brightest young players.

Historically speaking, Liverpool have a good relationship with Blackburn.

The likes of Harvey Elliott, Tyler Morton, and Leighton Clarkson have all been on sent on loan to the Lancashire club recently.

However, Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to enjoy a good relationship with the Championship outfit.

After Wharton’s former teammate Ashley Phillips was acquired by Blackburn during the summer transfer window, Tottenham and Blackburn are said to enjoy a cordial relationship.

Although the 18-year-old midfielder hasn’t yet participated in a senior Spurs game, he has shown promise at the Under-21 level and has been included in multiple matchday squads under Ange Postecoglou.

Perhaps the Reds can entice Blackburn Rovers with a few more loan deals if Jurgen Klopp decides Wharton is his man.
