It could be a very long summer transfer window for Bayer Leverkusen.

With how much success they have already enjoyed this season, top clubs around Europe will be queuing for some of Leverkusen’s best players.

Furthermore, the Bundesliga side will likely face an uphill battle to keep hold of the highly coveted Xabi Alonso.

Bayern Munich announced today that they would be parting ways with Thomas Tuchel come the end of the season.

Reports from Sky Germany have maintained that Bayern Munich see the Spaniard as the ideal candidate to replace the outgoing Tuchel.

With Liverpool’s interest as concrete, it’s set to be a very long summer for Bayer Leverkusen.

And it seems that Liverpool’s shopping at the BayArena may not stop at Xabi Alonso.

There is currently no manager or sporting director in place at Liverpool, therefore many fans are perplexed as to why the club is being linked to transfer targets.

But a club the size of Liverpool will have many staff members continually doing their due diligence in the transfer market.

Head data analyst Will Spearman, chief scout Barry Hunter, and head of recruitment Dave Fallows are some of the few that will undoubtedly be working hard to get ready for a big summer at Anfield.

Liverpool have ‘good chances’ of signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah

Liverpool have ‘good chances’ of signing Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

This is according to German outlet SportBILD (via Sport Witness), who claim that the player is keen on a move to the Premier League.

Furthermore, it’s reported that the Merseyside outfit have Tah on their summer transfer target list as defenders continue to get examined.

The 28-year-old is said to have developed into a ‘top’ player this season and his leadership skills have become apparent under Xabi Alonso.

Tah could be available for as little as €18m, which is incredibly cheap in this day and age of transfers.

The German international is entering into the final year of contract at the end of this campaign – and that is when his €18m release clause is set to become active.

This is not the first time the Reds have been linked to the Leverkusen man.

Jurgen Klopp does still have Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah at his disposal, of course as well as club captain Virgil Van Dijk.

However, Konate’s recent injury history will be a concern.

Gomez has largely been used as a right-back this season and he has a poor injury record of his own even though Quansah has shown his qualities he still has little experience.

Therefore, Jonathan Tah could be a viable option for the Reds as they look for defensive reinforcements in the summer.
