REPORT: Leeds United register interest in Liverpool youngster

Leeds United have registered an interest in a Liverpool starlet who has been close to leaving the club before.

Leeds United have registered an interest in Liverpool youngster Mateusz Musialowski this winter transfer window.

This is according to Football Insider, who claim that Leeds manager Daniel Farke keen on reinforcing his attacking options.

It has been a quiet January transfer window the Reds after all the business done in the summer.

However, Liverpool have been busy in the loan market.

The Anfield club has recalled youngsters where needed.

In addition, the Reds have ensured that other loan deals are available for the recalled players.

The likes of Rhys Williams and Fabio Carvalho have already been recalled and sent out on loan again.

Leeds United interested in Mateusz Musialowski

Leeds boss Daniel Farke wants the Polish forward and the midlands club have reportedly ‘made checks’ on the player.

A versatile and clinical striker, Musialowski is able to play across the frontline.

For Barry Lewtas’ U21 side, he has impressed with six goals and two assists in 11 games across all competitions.

It is believed more than few clubs showed their interest in Musialowski, but Leeds are now firmly amongst the candidates vying for his signature.

The Whites are currently 4th in the Championship, and will have aspirations of getting back into the Premier League.

While Crysenico Summerville and Daniel James have netted 12 and 10 strikes respectively, Leeds do not have the most goals in their ranks.

The next closest is Georginio Rutter with five goals in 27 appearances.

Therefore, it makes sense why Farke is on the market for an attacker.

Almost left in the summer

The 20-year-old was close to leaving Anfield over the summer.

The Polish native was all set to move to Austrian side TSV Hartberg after failing to force his way into the first team.

However, negotiations between the two clubs broke down over the inserting of a sell-on clause for the youngster.

He is yet to make a senior appearance for the Reds since signing from Polish side UKS SMS Lodz in August 2021.

His three-year contract signed then is set to expire in June this year, making him an attractive option for any interested suitors.

He has played in 80 games for Liverpool’s youth teams, contributing six assists and 30 goals in a range of offensive positions.

Musialowski has one goal in five appearances while wearing representing Poland U21s.

Meanwhile, Leeds are also rumored to be looking at Calvin Ramsay for a transfer this winter.
