Crystal Palace have not had the best season and are currently 14th in the Premier League – five points above the relegation zone.
Despite their team-wide issues, a few players such as Odsonne Édouard and Michael Olise have managed to catch the eye on occasion this season.
It is Olise that we turn our attention to today, as Mark Ogden from ESPN has reported that Liverpool, alongside Manchester United and Chelsea, are interested in the 22-year-old.
It is believed that Manchester United are the most advanced at this early stage, as they have already suggested that Aaron Wan-Bissaka going the other way in a potential transfer deal.
Wan-Bissaka saw his contract extended by 12-months in December, but the report claims it was purely to avoid the right-back leaving on a free transfer.
The Red Devils paid £50 million to Crystal Palace for the services of Wan-Bissaka back in 2019.
Therefore, the Manchester club are understandably keen to ensure they don’t lose such an investment cheaply.
Olise recently signed a four-year contract with the Eagles at the end of the summer transfer window.
This came after the attacker rejected a transfer to Chelsea before the 2023/24 season.
He has primarily been deployed this season as a right-sided forward cutting in on his left foot of preference.
In his nine Premier League outings, he has five goals and one assist.
Would Michael Olise fit in at Liverpool?
The Crystal Palace man has shades of Fabio Carvalho.
Both are natural No.10’s that perhaps don’t have a set position in their teams.
Olise is one of Palace’s best players.
His dribbling and flair make him a handful for even the most experienced defenders.
However, the Reds do not play with a traditional No.10, which means he will have to play on the right as an inverted winger.
Of course, that position is held down by none other than Mohamed Salah – meaning Olise may struggle for game-time.
Injury issues at Crystal Palace
The 22-year old has also suffered his fair share of injury worries in south London.
He was out from June until November 2023 with a hamstring injury that got aggravated.
As we all know, the Reds themselves do not have the greatest injury records with some of their players.
Therefore, Liverpool will need to ensure that Olise is properly vetted for any potential recurrences of past injuries.
In other news, the Ajax manager has spoken on links with Jordan Henderson.
