Birmingham City have joined Leeds United in showing interest in Liverpool starlet Mateusz Musialowski.

This according to the Daily Mail, who claim that the Birmingham want to improve their attack for the second half of the season.

Birmingham City have endured a difficult season so far, already on their third manager of the campaign after John Eustace and Wayne Rooney were sacked.

The upheaval behind the scenes have caused the Blues to sit in 20th place in the Championship table, just above the relegation zone.

Musialowski meanwhile is out of contract in the summer and therefore is an enticing option from a financial point of view.

Manager Tony Mowbray needs offensive reinforcements as the Blues are among the lowest scorers in the Championship this season.

Musialowksi has plenty to give for Birmingham City

A versatile and clinical striker, Musialowski is able to play across the frontline.

For Barry Lewtas’ U21 side, he has impressed with six goals and two assists in 11 games across all competitions.

It is believed more than few clubs showed their interest in Musialowski, but Leeds and Birmingham are now firmly amongst the candidates vying for his signature.

He has played in 80 games for Liverpool’s youth teams, contributing six assists and 30 goals in a range of offensive positions.

Musialowski has one goal in five appearances while wearing representing Poland U21s.

However, the Championship is a significant step up from reserve team football, so signing such an inexperienced player could be a risk.

In-demand Musialowski almost left in the summer

Over the past summer window, the 20-year-old was on the verge of leaving Anfield.

After failing to break through into the first squad, the native Pole was poised to go to Austrian side TSV Hartberg.

But the inclusion of a sell-on clause for the young player caused the two teams’ discussions to collapse.

Since joining the Reds from Polish team UKS SMS Lodz in August 2021, he has not yet made a senior debut for Liverpool.

Therefore, it seems a realistic option that Musialowski could leave either in January or as a free agent in the summer.
