The agent of Moises Caicedo, Andrea Pellegatti has lifted on why the 21-year-old turned a move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The Reds agreed a British record transfer fee of £111m with Brighton for the highly-rated midfielder but his preference was to move to Stamford Bridge despite the Seagulls rejecting a succession of bids from the Blues.
Mauricio Roberto Pochettino’s finally reached an agreement with Brighton on a fee that could rise to a British record £115m with add-ons.
Caicedo joined the West Londoners on an eight-year contract with the option of a further year for an initial £100m.
The Ecuador international left Roberto De Zerbi’s outfit after two and a half years, during which he went on to make 53 appearances for Albion and won their Player of the Year award for 2022-23.
Speaking about Caicedo’s decision to choose Chelsea, his agent told Sport Italia: “It was finalised in the last few hours, but the boy only wanted Chelsea, who had started to show their interest consistently since January.”
Caicedo has struggled to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge after featuring in four games across all competitions as the Blues lie 14th in the standings with just five points.
