Liverpool’s rumoured move for Borussia Moenchengladbach’s midfielder Manu Koné could cost £30 million and the role of Jorg Schmadtke could prove crucial in getting a deal across the line.

SportBILD reported during the week that Liverpool had contacted Manu Koné and his representatives and it has become apparent that Jurgen Klopp- now with the aid of Schmadtke- are looking to raid the Bundesliga.

Following the collapse of Liverpool’s attempts to sign Jude Bellingham, Liverpool have altered their interest in the personnel but not the league. Bundesliga contingents Khéphren Thuram, Ryan Gravenberch, Florian Wirtz and Manu Koné are names rumoured to be heading Anfield.

Sport BILD’s Tobi Altschäffl shone some more light on the deal with Koné during an interview he had with The Empire of the Kop earlier today.

In it, Altschäffl revealed that the French holding midfielder is the perfect fit for the Premier League given his high energy and physical stature.

He also hinted at the fact that Moenchengladbach will more than likely be forced to sell the midfielder given their daunting financial situation.

Of the 20 clubs to feature in the Bundesliga since August 2020, Gladbach is the only one that has failed to realize any player sales- failing to bring in any income through departures in the last two years.

Altschäffl concluded that if Liverpool were to make Koné their number one priority then a deal would be inevitable but as we know, Liverpool have drafted an extensive list of potential midfielders that is being reassessed daily.

PSG and Chelsea are also thought to be chasing the services of the 22-year-old, but Liverpool have the advantage with Klopp and particularly Schmadtke having such strong internal relations with the Bundesliga.
