Liverpool underwent a rapid transformation in the summer transfer window, with expectations of Brazilian midfielder Andre being part of the overhaul.
However, the departure desires of Fabinho and club captain Jordan Henderson, who both sought moves to Saudi Arabia, confirmed that Liverpool needed new reinforcements in the midfield so it would be a busy summer window
The club swiftly addressed this need by securing the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
The final two additions came late in the window, as Liverpool became embroiled in one of the most dramatic transfer sagas in recent memory involving Moises Caicedo.
The persistent rumours linking Liverpool with Andre were validated when reports from David Ornstein revealed the club had made inquiries about him.
Impressing with Fluminense during the season, Andre became a target for Liverpool after failed attempts to secure deals for both Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
However, the proposed deals for Andre did not materialize, leading Liverpool to explore an alternative route, culminating in the surprising signing of Wataru Endo.
Expressing his aspirations, Andre stated, “I watch the Premier League, and it’s a big dream to play there.
“I’m focused on finishing the season with Fluminense and realizing our dream of winning the Club World Cup. But my ultimate dream is clear – to be a Premier League player.”
There was a general feeling that Liverpool may move for him in January but Fulham had appeared to move to the front of the queue for him as they were looking for a replacement for Joao Palhinha.
However Bayern Munich signed Eric Dier instad of Palhinha so the London club did not need to find a replacement so they weren’t willing to make a move for him.
However there has been an update on his future as he assesses his future in Brazil.
Fulham make move for Andre
According to a recent report Fulham have now made a bid for the defensive midfielder and they have offered £30 million for him plus another £5 million in add-ons.
The Fulham CEO Alistair Mackintosh already agreed terms with Andre last year as he had travelled to the Copa Libertadores Final so that he could discuss what he would like in his contract.
So therefore it appears that even though Fulham have not raised any sums with the sale of Palhinha that they have the money needed to sign the Fluminense man unless this deal means that their Portuguese star man will be on the move.
Liverpool have seemingly moved away from Andre as Jurgen Klopp seems happy with his current options as he had Wataru Endo flourishing before he had to leave on international duty.
He also now has Alexis Mac Allister back available after he suffered a nasty injury in the Sheffield United victory so the Argentine will be able to play in the deeper midfield role.
There is an expectation that both Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic will be back in February as well which will boost Liverpool’s midfield.
They may still keep an eye on Andre to see how he does in the Premier League as he is still only 22-years-old but right now they will let Fulham have a free run at him.
