22-year old Aurélien Tchouaméni has told French outlet Le Parisien that Liverpool were the first club to show interested in signing him prior to his departure from Monaco.

The Real Madrid star is set to make his first World Cup appearance tonight against Australia. Once he heard about Real Madrid’s interest there was only one place he wanted to go, as shared by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The €100M signing is expected to the World Cup by storm, with Ngolo Kante injured Tchouaméni will have added pressure to perform in Qatar.

The reigning champions will expect to be involved in the latter stages of the competition.

If this confirms one thing though it is that Liverpool are clearly in the market for a world class midfielder.
