Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that he expects Liverpool to be active in finding a new midfielder in the next few days.

Speaking on his YouTube channel on a live stream, Romano was asked by a chat member whether there was any news on Liverpool.

In a short and succinct response Romano said, “Anything for Liverpool? I expect them to try for a new midfielder in the next days.”

This came shortly after Liverpool had been thumped 3-0 by Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League, where many fans were ironically pointing out the midfield masterclass put on by Moises Caicedo; a player linked with Liverpool throughout the January transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp was pretty downbeat in his pre-match press conference on Friday when asked about transfer incomings, but he didn’t completely rule it out.

Fabrizio Romano didn’t mention a players name nor whether it’s likely to be a permanent or loan signing, however it’s possible that the Liverpool hierarchy may be forced into action after seeing the team’s dramatic downturn in form this season. The first team has looked a shadow of its former self, with many commenting that the midfield doesn’t look quite like the force it once was.

We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any developments on the transfer front for Liverpool this week and will look to report it here first on our website.
