Chelsea have not enjoyed a good season so far and continue to lack identity under the Bohley/Clearlake era.

The Blues finished 12th last season, and have just now broken free of mid table after three consecutive wins on the bounce – most recently a 1-0 win against Fulham.

The Blues have themselves broken the British transfer record twice over, first with Enzo Fernandez for a gargantuan £107 million before signing Moises Caicedo for a whopping £115m.

One cannot forget the likes of Mudryk, Sterling and others, who all came for big transfer fees as well.

Despite all the money spent, the two-time Champions League winners still look disorganized, flat, and out of ideas.

One of the issues is that they are unable to score enough goals based on the chances created, and it seems now Maurico Pochettino and co. have a plan to combat their profligacy in front of goal.

Chelsea could make a move for Roberto ‘Bobby’ Firmino

Matt Law of the Telegraph suggests that Chelsea could make a move for an experienced forward for a short-term fix until they are able to bring in their desired target.

The Blues already brought in a No.9 in Nicholas Jackson, but it seems they are still wanting another option in attack.

Matt Law details the possible interest in Firmino, writing:

“Taking a risk on a striker who has been prolific in Portugal or Holland is unlikely to yield instant results, which perhaps leaves Chelsea having to consider the possibility of trying to find a short-term loan option from Saudi Arabia in the form of Roberto Firmino or even Karim Benzema.”

It would be painful for Liverpool fans to see an Anfield legend wind up at Chelsea, playing against the Reds in the Premier League.

The Brazilian spent many successful years on Merseyside, winning every trophy available while also winning over the fans’ love.

The fan song ‘Si Senor’ sums up how the Anfield faithful feel about the Brazilian.

Roberto Firmino’s situation

Bobby Firmino has unfortunately not enjoyed the great spell in Saudi Arabia since bidding farewell to Anfield.

He started brightly in Saudi Arabia and even managed to score a hattrick on his debut for his new team.

However, the situation has deteriorated for the 32-year-old, and he could now find himself leaving Al-Ahli in the January transfer window.

It is believed that the former Liverpool man is ‘frustrated’ by Al Ahli’s system and has not scored in more than 16 games for the Saudi.

Chelsea could represent a second chance at the top level, even if it means angering Liverpool fans.

While at this stage, it seems unlikely that Firmino will soil his Liverpool legacy by joining Chelsea, stranger things have happened in football.
