The deal will depend on if Liverpool are willing to let Oxlade-Chamberlain

Brighton are reported to be interested in a deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is out of contract with Liverpool in the summer. However, Sami Mokbel for the Daily Mail writes that the Seagulls want Oxlade-Chamberlain on a free transfer this window. It remains to be seen if Liverpool will accept this deal, as the Reds’ first preference will be to get a fee for the midfielder if he is to leave before the end of his deal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s time at Liverpool has been up and down, with injuries seriously affecting the midfielder’s availability over the years. His fitness has been a doubt since joining Liverpool, but his qualities have not, as Oxlade-Chamberlain has been able to play in multiple positions and has been a valuable squad player over the last 5 and a half years.

Mokbel writes that Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the radar of several Premier League clubs, with Brighton hoping to come out on top in the race for the Englishman. If the deal goes through, Oxlade-Chamberlain would join his former Liverpool midfield partner in Adam Lallana, who left Liverpool for the Seagulls in 2020.

Brighton recently lost Leandro Trossard to Arsenal and will want more options in their squad as they make their bid for a place in the European competitions next year. With Oxlade-Chamberlain’s versatility in midfield and on the wings, he would be a perfect option for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
