As Jude Bellingham’s departure grows more likely as the days go on, German outfit Borussia Dortmund are scouring the market for a midfield to replace the Englishman if he leaves.

They have identified Anfield man Naby Keita as a transfer window prospect, Sports BILD report.

Keita is in contract with Liverpool only until June and so he has become the recipient of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig’s interest.

Dortmund are keen admirers of the Guinean as they are said to have committed their interest in securing the midfielder on a free transfer in windows gone past.

Both club and player rejected the proposed offer with Klopp’s midfield options already baring thin.

A summer switch back to Germany has not been ruled out so far, with both clubs itching the sign Keita for a reasonable fee.

Reports say he was one of two midfielders on their wish list, alongside Eintracht Frankfurt’s Daichi Kamada.

Dortmund higher-ups claim that Keita is achievable given his current contract at Liverpool, married up with the player’s preference to play regular football in Germany as opposed to anywhere else.

Competition from country companions RB Leipzig may turn costly, however, with the attraction of a return to a previous club possibly a telling factor.

The highly energetic box-to-box midfielder has struggled to cement himself as a starter under Jurgen Klopp’s stewardship despite the optimism surrounding his move five years ago.

With just 12 appearances under his belt in all competitions this term, his injuries and inconsistency in form means his services will most likely be provided elsewhere soon, with Dortmund a highly likely suitor.
