Today’s edition of Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Atalanta have informed Liverpool that it will take a bid of €40m if they want to sign Teun Koopmeiners.
We reported a few days ago via Inews that Liverpool have been tracking Koopmeiners, with Jurgen Klopp and assistant Pep Lijnders both fans of the Netherlands star. And now La Gazzetta dello Sport report that The Reds have sounded out the player’s availability with Atalanta and were informed about Koopmeiners’ price tag.
According to the paper, Atalanta would only consider a big money offer for the 24 year old and the ‘minimum price tag’ for the midfielder is €40m.
The paper suggests that Liverpool have expressed an interest with the players agency, Wasserman, and Koopmeiners would struggle to turn down a move to The Reds that would be seen as an upgrade both economically and sporting wise for the player. However, Koopmeiners is happy at Atalanta, where he and his girlfriend are settled in the city of Bergamo, and he’d prefer to stay until the summer and then leave for a top European club.
La Gazzetta mention that RB Leipzig had been looking at the player last summer, however Liverpool is seen as a bigger opportunity for Koopmeiners.
Koopmeiners was signed by Atalanta for €12m from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2021 and so far has scored 8 goals in 46 appearances. His current contract with the club expires in 2025, so Atalanta are in no rush to sell the player on the cheap.
