Liverpool shocked football supporters around the world today after they announced that Jurgen Klopp would be leaving the club at the end of the season in the morning.

They released a video of the German coach who explained why he has decided that he cannot carry on after this campaign and then there was an extended interview as he went into more detail about why.

There was then a special press conference set up in the afternoon as he was asked more questions from the media alongside Liverpool’s Chief Executive Officer Billy Hogan.

Hogan answered some questions about who may come in to replace Klopp for next season but he didn’t give much away as the club begin their process to replace Klopp after a nine-year stint in which he won every honour available to him other than the Europa League, which he could tick off at the end of this campaign.

There have been a few managers who have been named already but there are very few who are available right now there is one man who has not been in management for three years.

Zinedine Zidane gives himself the chance to go for Liverpool job

A recent report has suggested that Zidane, who has only ever managed Real Madrid, has turned down another chance to get back into management.

He was supposedly approached by Algeria with Walid Sadi, the director of Algerian football, testing his luck to see if he would want to take charge of the nation of his parents birth.

They are on the lookout for a new manager due to Djamel Belmadi’s sacking after the team finished bottom of their Africa Cup of Nations group even though they were one of the favourites to win the tournament alongside Egypt who will have to do the majority of it without Liverpool man Mohamed Salah.

Zidane has turned down the offer in a polite manner as he does not want a role in international management if it is not France, the country where he was born.

This of course leaves him open to other job offers but whether he would be open to joining Liverpool is unknown especially after a few years out of the game.

He originally left Real Madrid in 2018 but after year he returned to the club for a couple of more seasons and he has seemingly not been close to ever coming to the Premier League.

The obvious target for Liverpool at the moment according to Jamie Carragher is another former Real Madrid player Xabi Alonso but it is likely that fans will not really know who it will be until at least the summer as Hogan stated the club prefer to do things in private.
