Trent Alexander Arnold has claimed “results will need to go their way” if they are to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, the Liverpool right back said:
“We’re stringing results together and we’re playing some good football as well”.
“We’re getting the wins on the board especially at this time of the season, and we need to be pushing as far as we can. We’re on the right path but we need to carry on”.
He went on further: “As a team, we understand it’s not in our hands, we need results to go our way, but there’s still a long way to go, and we have a lot of games to play — a lot can happen”.
“It’s important for us to get points on the board and that’s where our heads are at, come April and May, that’s when we know we’ll stand, but for now we have to make sure we’re in a good position to push on”.
“Three points against a team like [Manchester] United on Sunday will really help us in achieving that.”
One team Liverpool have to leapfrog is Newcastle, who play Manchester City tomorrow at 1:30 GMT.
Spurs are another side in the mix for the top four spots, and face off against Wolves tomorrow at 3pm GMT.
