Thiago Alcantara has had a mixed spell at Anfield after his transfer from Bayern Munich in 2020.

Despite his obvious quality and ability, consistent injury problems have disrupted his flow on Merseyside.

However, he’s still managed to make almost 100 appearances for Liverpool in this time.

This suggests Jurgen Klopp views him as important member of the squad regardless.

His last appearance was off the bench against West Ham United in April, and he has been out with what is obviously a complex hip issue since.

The Spaniard missed the entirety of pre-season as he recovered from hip surgery done in the summer off-season.

The 32-year-old may have hinted as to why he has been suffering from this hip injury in an old video that has now resurfaced.

A 2022 conversation between Thiago and Owen Hargreaves has resurfaced.

Thiago describes how his no-look passing style puts a lot of strain on his hip joints.

When asked about his technique, he told SuperSport, “In ten years, my hip will be destroyed, 100%.”

“But it’s a way to fake them or to trick the other guys, and give a better position to my team-mate.”

Of course, the current hip injury could be completely unrelated to his passing technique, but it’s still not a good look.

The Spaniard’s prediction may have come true a lot sooner than he anticipated.

However, he could still have a big part to play in the second-half of the season.

Adding Thiago to a team pushing for major honours might just be exactly what Liverpool need to get over the line.

In other news, Barcelona reportedly remain determined to sign Thiago after Gavi’s long-term injury.
