Unai Emery has provided an Aston Villa injury update following his sides’ disappointing exit from the UEFA Conference League on Thursday night.

The Villains were knocked out of Europe at the semi-final stage after suffering a heavy 6-2 defeat to Greek giants Olympiakos on aggregate, with a 2-0 defeat in the second leg confirming the result.

Meanwhile, as the Premier League season approaches its climax, Liverpool is set to face Aston Villa in a pivotal match on May 13 at Anfield.

This encounter is not only crucial in terms of European qualification for Villa but also marks an emotional milestone as Jurgen Klopp’s penultimate game as Liverpool manager.

A month ago, this game would have been billed as potential Premier League title decider for Liverpool.

However, a poor April has seen the Reds fall out of the title race – with Arsenal and Manchester City now battling it for England’s ultimate prize.

Instead, the game at Pride Park represents an opportunity to give the fans something to shout about and ensure Jurgen Klopp’s final games end on a high.

Ahead of the game, Unai Emery has provided an injury update ahead of Monday’s clash.

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa injury update

Speaking after his side’s exit from the UEFA Conference League last night, Unai Emery revealed that some of his players are carrying ‘small injuries'”

“Each day is going to be very important because some players have small injuries,” Emery explained via Birmingham Live.

“Some are having small pain and there is no date when they can come back, like Zaniolo.”

“He is close but is not comfortable with his pain. Hopefully he can progress in the next days.”

“Tielemans is close, Alex Moreno will need a few days and maybe could be available (for Liverpool).”

Aston Villa will confirm their place in next season’s Champions League if Tottenham lose to Burnley on Saturday.

If that was to happen, then the Villains will surely be performing one or two percent below their normal levels.

Emi Martinez played against Olympiakos and will feature against Liverpool.

Other Aston Villa absentees include Boubacar Kamara, Jacob Ramsey, Tyrone Mings, and Emi Buendia.
