FIFA released its annual 2022 transfer report today. A total of 2,679 permanent transfers took place in 2022.

Interestingly only 13.3% of all transfers last year were permanent moves. Other transfers were made up of loan moves, players returning to their parent clubs, and players joining new clubs abroad after they were released from a club (41%).
Two Liverpool players were ranked in the top 10 of the 2,679 permanent moves in world football.
Darwin Núñez was the second most expensive player in the world behind Aurélien Tchouameni who went to Real Madrid from Monaco. Liverpool were linked with the French international.
Luis Diaz was the 9th most expensive player in 2022. One place ahead of Raphinha who transferred to Barcelona from Leeds.
The top 10 transfers accounted for 12.5% of all monies spent on players out of 2,679 permanent moves.
