Stefan Bajcetic has not had the season he would have imagined heading into this campaign.

The youngster had a break-through season last term, making a total of 19 first team appearances, including starting a UEFA Champions League knock-out tie against Real Madrid.

Unfortunately, a tear in his abductor muscle meant his season ended prematurely. Additionally, his preparation for this campaign was also disrupted.

The teenager was unable to accompany the team in the preseason camp in Germany nor the short tour to Singapore.

Bajcetic made a brief comeback from his long-term injury against LASK in opening matchday of the UEFA Europa League, before a further setback made him unavailable.

Of the latest setback, Jurgen Klopp said:

“Stefan had a little, little, little, little setback. The problem with Stefan, I can imagine everybody wants to see him play more.”

“I want (too) but we have to be really careful.”

“I will not put pressure on [when Bajcetic can return].”

“If he will be back after international break, we will see. Hopefully, would be cool.”

Many Liverpool fans are eager to see the talented starlet return to regular first-team football.

However, a report surfaced yesterday claiming that Spanish side Sevilla are extremely keen on acquiring Bajcetic.

The reigning Europa League champions believe that the 18-year-old can be a ‘fundamental pillar for the club in the future’ as well as ‘strengthen the team in the present.’

Now Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on the situation while speaking on his Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside:

“There’s also been some speculation about a possible loan move for youngster Stefan Bajcetic.”

“He hasn’t played as much this season, partly due to injury problems, but he’s still considered an important player for present and future of the club,” as quoted by Empire of the Kop

“Liverpool feel they have a very talented prospect on their hands.”

“It’s not looking easy for him to break back into the side with so many signings.”

“At the moment Liverpool have not made any decision on Bajcetic, so we will see what happens later this year.”

Hopefully Bajcetic can kick on from here and start to play more games this season, as he looks like a special player who has the grit, determination and so many more of those abstract qualities that make a good Liverpool player.
