Monaco’s Sporting Director Paul Mitchell is reported to be seeking a return to England, after previously working at Tottenham Hotspur.
Mitchell has told Monaco that he does not intend to stay at the club beyond the end of his current deal which runs until the summer of 2024.
Jacque Talbot of Football Transfers now reports that Mitchell wants to come back to work in the Premier League when he leaves Monaco. Last summer rumours linked Mitchell with a move to Chelsea but this move did not materialize.
Mitchell is said to be active in the search for his replacement with Monaco. The report states that Liverpool and Manchester United are both interested in hiring Mitchell but that Liverpool looks the more likely of the two possible destinations.
Mitchell attended Liverpool’s home match with Southampton earlier in the season. Liverpool’s current director Julian Ward will leave Anfield at the end of this season and a Director of Mitchell’s experience would be the ideal replacement.
Paul Mitchell wants England return – turned down new Monaco terms. Contract up after summer window + has been helping Ligue 1 club find SD replacement. Liverpool/Man Utd considered. Had talks with Reds – Ward set to leave in summer. For @Transfersdotcom https://t.co/Y7mdQrHQz4
