Just when we thought that the Mason Mount to Liverpool connection was over, Sky Germany pull us back in!
Sky Germany presenter Florian Plettenberg has taken to Twitter and says that the England and Chelsea midfielder is now deciding between a move to Manchester United OR Liverpool.
This sudden update will come as a shock to many LFC fans who are awaiting the imminent arrival of Alexis Mac Allister and thought that Liverpool had turned their attention to other midfielders and away from Mount.
Plettenberg mentions that Manchester United are pushing to sign Mount, with manager Erik Ten Hag definitely wanting to sign the player. The journalist mentions a fee of €45-50m with bonuses included as a valuation of the player, who has one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
The namedrop of Liverpool is interesting, however. It seems to imply that either Liverpool have had an offer on the table for the player for a while or that they’re still in discussions with the player’s camp to make a move happen. Either could be plausible.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Mason Mount for months now, with reports suggesting that they were frontrunners to sign him in March. Recent media reports suggest that Manchester United have taken the lead in that respect. Either way, Liverpool may be looking to hedge their bets in case other clubs sense desperation from the club and hike up the prices for their midfield players.
News #Mount: Been told #MUFC is pushing a lot! Ten Hag and the bosses share the same opinion about him: They definitely want him! Within the club all are convinced of him.
➡️ Understand he will decide between ManUtd or Liverpool. #LFC
