RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol is on the radar of several top clubs, Liverpool chief among them. The defender has been linked with the club since the January transfer window and it is believed The Reds interest in the Croatian stems back even further than that.
The 21-year-old impressed hugely at the World Cup in Qatar for his country and his value has increased significantly.
A report from Matt Smith for GIVEMESPORT quotes the reliable CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, who says that Liverpool have been ‘tracking Josko Gvardiol for quite some time’.
Another very reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano has said about Gvardiol, “At the moment I’m aware of Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool but it’s still March and nothing is agreed, so we have to keep the race open. I think Gvardiol will become the most expensive centre back ever, more than €80m fee”.
A €97 million release clause is reportedly set to be activated next summer on the defender’s RB Leipzig contract.
At 21-years-old, Gvardiol could be a staple in Liverpool’s defensive unit, an area of the team in desperate need of a refresh, for years to come.
With so many reliable sources confirming Liverpool’s interest, this will be a transfer window talked about endlessly over the next several months.
