Jurgen Klopp was dealt a huge blow when Senegalese international Sadio Mane joined German side Bayern Munich last summer.
The transfer drew concern from Liverpool supporters around the globe, who have now deemed Mane’s departure as an attributing factor to their recent downfall.
The Reds have been cursed with a tough run of fixtures with four of their next seven Premier League outings against Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and league-toppers Arsenal.
In the remaining months of the season, the Reds face an uphill battle of securing a place in the Champions League, with their recent form making this task trickier than it should be.
Sitting nine points adrift of Champions League contention, the former Anfield ace has publicly stated his full-blown confidence that his former teammates will override their recent difficulties pointing out that German manager Klopp is the perfect man for the job.
Mane told Bild “Liverpool will be back,”
“I’m convinced they will overcome this situation. They had many injuries and tough tests, but Jurgen Klopp is definitely the right man. He will lead Liverpool back up, from this season – the players love him.”
His departure from English giants Liverpool was bittersweet as he was a serial winner in some of Liverpool’s most dominant years, adding a Premier League, a Champions League and a FA Cup to his hefty list of accolades.
In Germany, Mane has struggled to find his feet despite being a reliable figure in Liverpool’s frontline.
He has only managed to score six goals in Germany’s top flight and has only just returned to action following a three-month stint on the side-lines through injury woes.
The 30-year-old was unable to represent his country at the World Cup in Qatar and will be eager to hit the ground running on his anticipated return to football.
Mane’s comments will revive the belief within the Liverpool camp, knowing that an ex-Liverpool fan favourite has full belief his old team are destined to return to greatness.
