Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has caught the eye in the Premier League ever since his arrival from Ukranian side Shakhtar Donetsk in 2022.
While he did inherit a functional team from ex-manager Graham Potter, the Italian has arguably built even more success at the Amex Stadium.
De Zerbi’s was successful at making the Seagulls a bigger threat going forward – with Brighton scoring more goals than ever under his stewardship.
The Italian masterminded Brighton’s highest-ever points tally in a Premier League season – a remarkable 62 points and a 6th place finish.
Roberto De Zerbi also played his part in a run to the FA Cup semifinals last term, narrowly losing out to eventual runners-up Manchester United on penalties.
And again, this campaign, the south coast club have impressed in their debut European season.
They topped a stacked Group B that involved the likes of Ajax and Olympique Marseille and could even meet the Reds in the knock-outs rounds to come.
What did Roberto De Zerbi say about Jurgen Klopp?
Now speaking in his pre-Sheffield United press conference, the Brighton boss has had his say on Jurgen Klopp’s announcement.
On the Jurgen Klopp ‘running out of energy’, he said:
“I can understand him, I think we have the best [job], but it is very tough.”
“You need energy, and have to push everyday; improve day by day.”
“You can’t stop your improvement and studies for a new idea. Football is always in development.”
On the prospect of managing Liverpool, the Italian was quick to shoot-down any attempts at a headline:
“There is no news. My focus is on the end of this season. We want to focus on our targets.”
