Ex-Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski had the privilege of playing under German boss Jurgen Klopp during their time in Germany together.

The elite target man has recently raved about Klopp in an interview with ESPN.

Now 34, Lewandowski has proven himself on multiple fronts to be one of the best strikers in modern football.

At Dortmund together, the dynamic duo won two Bundesliga titles and competed in a Champions League final against arch-rivals Bayern Munich in 2012/13.

The Poland international spoke highly of his former manager.

“His personality [is the best],” said Lewandowski.

“He is the guy who can be like a father, the guy that can help you all the time, but also he’s the guy who can try to push you.

“This is the guy who you can go to him, speak with him. We are all human, we all have problems.

“He’s not only the coach, he is the guy who … you can learn from him, also [about] life. I learned a lot under him.”

The two were in admiration of one another, and leave fans wondering whether a move to Liverpool was ever on the cards so the two could continue their formidable partnership.

Such high praise from one of the best strikers in the world shows how lucky Liverpool are to have such an elite coach.
