A new report from Turkey states that Trabzonspor have “made an offer” for Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

The Spanish midfielder was linked with a departure from Anfield this summer, with several reports citing interest from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Spain.

Thiago has yet to feature for Liverpool this season as he recovers from a hip injury he sustained last season.

The 32-year-old will reportedly be fit for Liverpool’s clash with Wolves this Saturday.

Turkish publication Star reports that Trabzonspor, who recently signed former Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe, are keen on adding Thiago to their ranks.

The deadline for the Turkish transfer window is Friday September 15. The report states that with the European and Saudi Arabian windows closed, Thiago’s options are limited.

The former Bayern Munich man is reportedly keen on being a guaranteed starter elsewhere as he knows his minutes will be limited at Anfield.

However, from Liverpool’s perspective this move would make very little sense. While Thiago is out of contract next year, the Reds are not likely to acquire a large fee for the player.

Thiago’s experience could prove vital in Liverpool’s young, new-look midfield. It is very unlikely that Liverpool would sanction a move for the player this far into the season with no possibility of a replacement.

Of course, the idea could be revisited in the January transfer window, with Liverpool reportedly keen on signing Brazilian midfielder Andre Trindade.
