Mason Mount is currently engaged in a standoff with Chelsea over negotiations to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge. The midfielder is seeking a significant pay-rise, more in line with Reece James’s new contract worth up to £250,000 a week.
Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider reports that Mount’s father has asked an agent to “sound out” interest in Mount from other clubs.
Mount’s current deal with Chelsea until 2024 and it seems the Englishman is considering a new challenge elsewhere.
If Chelsea and Mount cannot agree terms by this summer, the Blues may decide to cash in on the valuable 24-year-old instead of letting Mount go into the final year of his deal.
