The reliable Jacob Steinberg, writing for The Guardian last month, stated that Chelsea are making efforts to come to an agreement with Mason Mount on a new deal ‘in the face of the growing prospect of Liverpool trying to buy the midfielder this summer.’
He wrote: “Liverpool are monitoring the situation closely and have been putting plans in place for a summer move. Mount has also attracted interest from Juventus.”
Jacque Talbot, writing for Footballtransfers.com, has now reported that Mason Mount ‘is in direct contact with Liverpool’
Talbot writes: ‘Mason Mount has been in direct contact with the Reds. Chelsea have been unable to seal a fresh deal with the England international despite another round of talks taking place in January. He is a huge target but the Blues are still trying to seal his future at Stamford Bridge.’
Mike McGrath has reported today that there has been no breakthrough in Mason Mount’s contract talks.
