Liverpool are set for an overhaul this summer, with the rumoured departures of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez on the horizon. Jurgen Klopp and his team are no doubt keeping tabs on several defensive targets across Europe to bring in this summer.

A report from Correio da Manhã states that Liverpool sent scouts to Sporting Lisbon’s game with Porto at the weekend to watch Sporting centre-half Goncalo Inacio. The 21-year-old is left-footer and can also play at left-back. He has represented Portugal at all underage level but has yet to make his first appearance for the senior national team.

Inacio has played 19 times for Sporting this season, and a report today from Samuel Meade for The Mirror suggests that after seeing the youngster in action during the weekend that Liverpool are considering a move the defender.

Sporting manager has previously hailed Inacio for his talents, stating:

“Inacio can play on one side and then come back in, [making it unpredictable for our opposition] so we have been making some good use of his characteristics. Inacio is very fast as well, offers long passing, can play inside and can even get to the top of the pitch before other players, giving [Pedro] Porro more freedom.”

Inacio’s release clause is reported to be €45 million.
