It is unlikely for Jurgen Klopp to stand in Kelleher’s way if the Irishman chooses to leave Liverpool in the summer.

Caoimhin Kelleher has been an outstanding back-up goalkeeper for Liverpool for several seasons, but rumours are circulating that the Irishman is planning a future away from the club in search of more first-team football, as reported in December.

Liverpool correspondent for The Athletic, James Pearce has stated that Caoimhin Kelleher may be one player that Liverpool could offload as the Reds need to generate funds for the potential big money signing of Jude Bellingham in the summer.

With possibly the best goalkeeper in the world in front of him in Alisson, Kelleher’s desire to be a no.1 elsewhere is reasonable, and his potential departure may come at the perfect time for Jurgen Klopp, who’s admiration for Bellingham is well known in football circles.

Kelleher, who has proven himself more than capable of playing in the top flight of English football on a regular basis, has hinted at an Anfield exit.

Jurgen Klopp has made several high-profile sales in his time as Liverpool manager, most notably the sale of Philippe Coutinho to FC Barcelona for a staggering £142 million in January 2018, a move which helped fund the transformational signings of Alisson and Virgil Van Dijk. The German may use a similar approach this summer and consider his most sellable assets at the end of the season in order to bring in the revenue needed to bring Bellingham to Anfield at last.
