A rebuild job will take place at Liverpool this summer, with several players departing the club and new players set to be brought in.
The midfield is an area of Liverpool’s team in need of urgent addressing. Many supporters and pundits have pointed towards Liverpool’s lack of energy and dynamism in the middle of the park as one of the main reasons for the team’s inconsistent form this season.
A new report from Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider states that Liverpool’s are “pole position” to land the signature of Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes this summer.
Nunes has been linked with Liverpool since January and the links to the Portuguese player have increased since. Nunes has looked unsettled since joining Wolves last summer.
O’Rourke writes that Liverpool are “prepared to do more business with Gestifute, the agency company that also oversaw Darwin Nunez’s £64.2million move to Anfield”.
The report also states that if Wolves are relegated they may be forced to sell Nunes for around £30-40 million.
