According to Football Insider, Liverpool are planning to make a move for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, with Liverpool’s interest descried as “concrete”.
It is well known among supporters and pundits that Liverpool are set to undertake a rebuild in midfield, with the likes of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner out of contract in the summer.
Neves has been linked with a move away from Wolves in the last several transfer windows and it is estimated that the club will not be able to hold onto the 25-year-old midfielder for much longer.
The report suggests that Liverpool will attempt to sign Neves this January rather than in the summer as Jurgen Klopp wants a Premier League proven midfielder to come straight into the side. The Portuguese international is contracted by Wolves until 2024.
The Reds’ long-term midfield target Jude Bellingham will not move away from Borussia Dortmund until at least this summer, so Neves may provide a suitable alternative option in midfield for Klopp.
Neves has plenty of experience in the Premier League, amassing 236 appearances for Wolves in all competitions. Neves has scored 4 goals in 18 Premier League appearances from midfield this season.
