A revelation in the Jude Bellingham transfer saga was revealed yesterday, and it made for pretty poor viewing for Liverpool fans.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that Bellingham’s future was likely to swing in the favour of either Manchester City or Real Madrid, which put the Reds out of question.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed in his Daily Briefing this morning that, despite the news, the 19-year-old English starlet remains as Klopp’s ‘top, top target’.
The information came from Christian Falk, who told CaughtOffside that other potential Liverpool targets have been pushed down the pecking order.
“I heard that because of Liverpool’s experience in the Champions League this term, Jurgen Klopp has made his thoughts very clear: Bellingham is now the top, top target. He said that every other transfer should be pushed down the pecking order; names like Randal Kolo Muani aren’t as important at the moment – there’s just one name and this is Bellingham.”
Liverpool are looking to sign just more than one midfielder this summer as their engine room has shown signs of wear and tear throughout the season.
Jude Bellingham will have the pick of the bunch when the window opens, with European giants Manchester City and Dortmund also heavily interested.
Klopp is looking to build a long-term future for the club and Bellingham would be at the centre of the revival for years to come if he was to join the Anfield-based outfit.
The main problem believed is Liverpool’s financial pedigree, especially with the Champions League qualification money slipping away from them.
FSG’s hesitance is also stalling Liverpool’s stance on the transfer and may prove detrimental if the generational talent is to part ways with Dortmund and move elsewhere.
A switch to Anfield would assure Bellingham regular minutes, whereas moves to City and Madrid do not guarantee regular playing time with their star-studded midfield, so the ball is fully in Bellingham’s court.
