The transfer window has yet to open but it feels like Enzo Fernandez’s future has been discussed for an eternity.
The latest developments in this saga come from Portugal where Record report that the Argentinian is likely to leave in the upcoming window.
Chelsea have reportedly made a late surge for the World Cup winner’s signature and the report goes as far as to say that Fernandez is likely to accept Chelsea’s offer.
Benfica released a statement on Enzo Fernandez today.
The publication states that Benfica offered Fernandez a €2M bonus in an attempt to convince him to stay.
It was reported in the last few days that Chelsea are willing to spend up to €130M on Fernandez. Following these reports it was suddenly revealed that Liverpool will not be signing him.
Liverpool not ruling out further signings in the January transfer window but Enzo Fernandez won’t be one of them. Jude Bellingham their number one midfield target and unlikely to move before the summer.

It is possible Liverpool have turned their attention elsewhere after the numbers in the deal for Fernandez became astronomical. Ecuadorian publication Teradeportes have reported that Liverpool are making efforts to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
ESPN football journalist Estaben Edul has stated that talks are at an advanced stage and that Fernandez is ‘close’ to joining Chelsea.
