Brazilian news outlet UOL Esporte reports that Arthur Melo will return to Juventus at the end of his loan in the summer.
The 26-year-old is not seen in Jürgen Klopp’s plans for next season as the club looks to rejuvenate their midfield. It is also reported that Juventus do not want to keep their 26-year-old and will sell him in the summer once he returns.
Arthur was signed on Transfer Deadline Day as an emergency backup due to injuries last summer.
Arthur has only been able to make one brief appearance for Liverpool since his move from Italy, a 13-minute cameo in Liverpool’s 4-1 loss to Napoli back in September. The midfielder has been out with a thigh injury since October.
Arthur joined Juventus back in 2020 in a saw deal that saw Miralem Pjanić move the other way to Barcelona. The deal will likely go down as one of the worst transfer deals to be completed as neither player has made an impact at the club that they joined.
In the summer, Liverpool will look to completely overhaul their midfield with interest shown in the likes of Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund and Matheus Nunes of Wolves.
A positive for Liverpool is the emergence of Stefan Bajcetic who has been one of their standout players in the new year.
