More reports are emerging surrounding the future of Barcelona star Ansu Fati. The reliable Fabrizio Romano reported last week that Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal are all “well-informed” on the 20-year-old’s situation at Barcelona.

The youngster is touted as one of the brightest prospects in world football, having made the Spain squad for the 2022 World Cup. Fati has 3 goals and 3 assists this season.

Despite Fati’s incredible potential and Xavi’s desire to keep the player, strapped-for-cash Barcelona may be forced to sell some of their most valuable assets to lower their wage bill.

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs for Caught Offside has today reported that Fati’s future will be decided based on Barcelona’s financial situation in the summer, no matter how much Xavi may want to keep the young forward.

Jacob’s wrote;

“Any outgoings this summer will be against the backdrop of Barcelona’s need to cut their wage bill by €150-200m or bring in significant income.”

“Fati is by no means one the highest earners at the club, but he’s still on an excellent wage and a young and talented forward who will command a healthy fee.”

Jacobs reports that Premier League clubs have contacted the player’s agent, not Barcelona themselves. Fati is estimated to carry a €100 million price tag.

Fati’s career has not yet took off in the way Barcelona fans had hoped when the La Masia graduate took the No.10 shirt after Lionel Messi’s departure.

Pastures new away from Spain might provide Fati the room to grow into a player in his own right, away from the shadow of arguably the greatest player ever.
