Thibaut Courtois suffered an injury in the warm-up in Real Madrid’s 1-o loss to Mallorca last night.
The Belgian international couldn’t take part due to a groin problem.
Courtois was outstanding against Liverpool in the Champions League final and will be a huge loss to the cup holders should he not recover in time. He is the third injury scare for Real Madrid after both Karim Benzema and Éder Militão left the pitch injured in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Valencia last week.
Benzema left before the hour mark with an apparent thigh injury. Afterward Carlo Ancelotti described Benzema’s injury as ‘very light’.
Liverpool will play Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League in a little over two weeks.
