Pep Lijnders met the media today ahead of Liverpool’s League Cup tie with Manchester City.

He was asked about injuries, players returning from the World Cup and the January transfer window.

Liverpool have been linked with numerous players over the past number of weeks.

It seems to be accepted within the club that reinforcements are needed in midfield. With Luis Diaz side-lined for the foreseeable future Liverpool may need to strengthen sooner than they anticipated.

Lijnders provided an update on the first team squad:

“Joel and Naby are in full team training – it’s good. Curtis is one week away from team training and Jota is inside the timeframe. He was with us in Dubai – it is nice for a long term injury to get out of this English weather, Kirkby weather. Sunshine, be with the team. He was in all the meetings and video meetings.”

When asked about potential signing he replied: “This is the press room, not the boardroom! We discuss these things in the boardroom. Next time when Jurgen sits here,  just ask him. He will be open.

He continued:

Transfer window. We are always ready. We are always prepared. If the right player, right moment, right feeling, we are always prepared.”

Lijnders was not ruling out any signings this winter with Enzo Fernandez, Jude Bellingham and Sofyan Amrabat amongst those linked with a move to Merseyside.
