Mohamed Salah has been voted the Liverpool player of the month for December. The Egyptian narrowly beat Alisson Becker in the fan poll to claim the award. This is his first time winning the award this season.

Salah played in all three of Liverpool’s games in December in which he registered two goals and one assist.

Salah’s goal against Aston Villa in the Premier League brought him on par with Sir Kenny Dalglish’s club record of 172 goals. Salah has since moved ahead making him the clubs 7th best ever goal scorer.

Salah addressed the team’s recent form in an interview telling Liverpoolfc.com, “It’s always good to win it, but the last couple of weeks we all know we should do better and hopefully the results will be better in the next few games.”

“The players were so excited after the game (at Wolves). We have a really good group, the players all around try to stick together and just lift each other.”

“I’ve been in three or four teams – I know what’s different between here and the other teams. We have an unbelievable group.”

Liverpool take on Chelsea in the Premier League next. Salah has scored 4 goals against his former club; he is tied for most goals any player has scored against the blues. Will we see Salah break this record at Anfield on Saturday?
