Liverpool and West Ham United have both started the season well, with the Hammers losing just once to Manchester City and Liverpool remaining unbeaten.
David Moyes’ men won the UEFA Conference League last season and followed up their success with good transfers in the form of Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Mohammed Kudus in the midfield department.
Now West Ham striker Michail Antonio has made some sensational claims on the Footballer’s Football Podcast ahead of Liverpool’s clash with the Hammers on Sunday.
“I am backing myself over Liverpool,” he began.
“You know what, I think we are going to finish higher than Liverpool this season. I’m putting it out there.
“I watched the game [Wolves vs Liverpool] because it was before our game and Wolves could have run away with it!”
“They had quite a few opportunities. We’ve got them this weekend and it’s a six-pointer. We’ve got them!”
Callum Wilson, who pairs up with the West Ham man for the podcast, responded hilariously to Antonio’s bold claims:
“Michail, wake up. I think he’s having one of those dreams again.”
West Ham will certainly not be an easy task for Liverpool, even at Anfield. David Moyes has reinvested the money received for Declan Rice well and could be a competitor for the European spots come the end of the season.
Wilson added that he sees Liverpool ahead of West Ham as favorites for the UEFA Europa League title:
“This year there are some big teams in the competition, the likes of Liverpool. I don’t see you [Antonio and West Ham] winning it this year, but I wish you all the success.”
