The Chelsea midfielder is the talk of the town at the moment, with Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester United all reportedly interested.

According to 90min, however, Mason Mount would prefer a move to Anfield-based club Liverpool over any other Premier League outfit.

In the meantime, Todd Boehly and co are trying all they can to tie down the English playmaker to a new deal in West London but also remain open to selling Mount if the talks are unsuccessful.

Waiting patiently are Liverpool, who are closely monitoring the situation.

As we know, the Reds are planning a midfield overhaul this summer and Jurgen Klopp is keen for Mount to be a key piece in his change of personnel.

The 24-year-old is set to hold talks with his current club this week to decide the best course of action.

Saying that, the report states that Liverpool are ‘particularly interested’ in the midfielder, and that the Reds ‘believe Mount would prefer to move to Anfield if he does leave Chelsea in the summer’.

Mount has been on Jurgen Klopp’s list for some time now, but whether the deal will come to fruition is a completely different matter.

He would suit Klopp’s blueprint to a tee, with his hard-working presence in midfield an attribute that the German coach admires.

Competition from other English clubs may prove to be too fierce and too detrimental in their pursuit, and his future is still uncertain.

One thing for certain, though, is that Liverpool will need to work at 100mph to get this deal across the line if Mount’s contract proceedings with Chelsea fall through.
