Manchester City are without 11 first team players ahead of Thursday evenings Carabao Cup match-up with Liverpool FC according to Manchester Evening News.

Both of England’s leading football clubs will be hoping to reignite their domestic seasons on a positive footing after the dramatic scenes following last Sunday’s World Cup Final.

Jurgen Klopp in particular will be hoping for a winning result after a slow start to their Premier League campaign that currently sees them 6th in the table, 10 points behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The squads of both teams will still be adjusting to players returning at different times from Qatar.

Players who have not been involved in the latter stages of the World Cup will have more onus placed upon their shoulders to drive their teams across the finishing line.

Liverpool will be keen to retain the Cup title they won after defeating Chelsea in the first of two cup finals last season on penalties.

The players missing for City are: Ederson, Ruben Dias, Laporte, Cancelo, Walker, Stones, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, Kalvin Phillips, Phil Foden and World Cup winner Julian Alvarez.
