Newcastle are reportedly interested in bringing in Liverpool striker, Diogo Jota this summer.
Jacque Talbot writing for Football Transfers claims that Newcastle have been watching Jota in recent months. It’s all because there is hope he may come available because of the arrival of Gakpo.
Talbot wrote:
‘We hear that Newcastle have been watching Diogo Jota over a summer move, who agreed to fresh terms in the summer, and Liverpool would ask for around €70m.
‘The Portugal international would have to contend with the starting trio of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez but we understand the Jorge Mendes star is happy at Liverpool.‘
Jota has struggled with injuries this season only playing 9 times and failing to score.
With Salah cemented on the right, Gakpo playing false 9, and Darwin coming from the left, it’s difficult to see Jota getting minutes going forward.
That also does not take into account the return of Luis Diaz, who should be back in a Liverpool shirt later this month.
