Liverpool were given the toughest game of the FA Cup third round as they had to go up against title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in their first game of this year’s competition.
They were missing key men Virgil Van Dijk and Mo Salah yet they still got the better of Mikel Arteta’s side due to two late goals.
Jakub Kiwior scored an own goal and in the last seconds of the game, The Reds broke finding Luis Diaz who fired past Aaron Ramsdale at his near post to put the cherry on top of a fantastic performance from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool will be hoping for more FA Cup success this season after they won it in dramatic fashion in 2022 beating Chelsea on penalties for the second time in that campaign.
They were given a favourable draw in the fourth round but they had to wait until after the third round replays to find out what side would be coming to Anfield.
Liverpool will face Norwich City in FA Cup fourth round
Liverpool were given either Norwich City or Bristol Rovers in the draw with the two sides needing to have another 90 minutes to see who can get the better of who.
In the first game between the Championship club and the League One side it was a close encounter but it did look like Norwich might run away with it as former Burnley man Ashley Barnes scored after 12 minutes.
However just five minutes later Bristol Rovers got an equaliser through midfielder Grant Ward which was all they needed to ensure they got the chance to go through at their home ground.
The replay started in fantastic fashion for Rovers as Luke McCormick gave them the lead after 20 minutes and it seemed that their fans would be getting a trip to Anfield.
However Norwich City manager David Wagner must have given his players a stern talking to at half-time as they came out in the second-half with some great determination.
Just eight minutes into the second-half Gabriel Sara got the equaliser for The Canaries and six minutes after that Norwich were given a penalty which was dispatched by striker Adam Idah.
They were able to hold on after that and they got another goal with three minutes left from Kenny McLean to make sure they got their away trip to Anfield which will be one full of fear for Norwich fans due to their recent games there over the years.
Norwich played Liverpool as recently as 2022 in the FA Cup when Takumi Minamino scored a brace to knock them out of the competition but they did show some threat in that game as Lukas Rupp got a goal to make it nervy.
However the last time Liverpool lost to Norwich at Anfield was all the way back in 1994 when Jeremy Goss got the winner for the away side.
In the past 15 years the fixture has been most famous for Luis Suarez ripping Norwich to shreds as in six games against them he scored twelve goals getting three hat-tricks against them.
