Liverpool under-18s beat Bournemouth under-18s by a score of 2-1 away at the Vitality Stadium in the Third Round of the FA Youth Cup.

With a number of the high profile under 18s, including the likes of Bobby Clark and Ben Doak, making the journey with the first team for the Carabao Cup Round of 16 clash against Manchester City this evening, under-18s manager Marc Bridge-Wilkinson had to shuffle his pack and name a much younger team than usually expected.

This didn’t stop the youngsters, however, as they started well and took the lead after 38 minutes with versatile attacker Jayden Danns giving his side the lead. This was Danns’ second goal of the season at U18 level.

At half time, The Reds brought on 15-year-old Egyptian Kareem Ahmed, who came on for his U18s debut. And the teenager doubled the lead when he made it 2-0 with 12 minutes of normal time to go. Hopefully, this is the first goal of many for the youngster at this level and beyond for The Reds.

Bournemouth U18s got a consolation goal deep into added time when defender Finn Tonks halved the deficit to make it 2-1.

But Liverpool U18s held on for victory and now advance to the FA Youth Cup Fourth Round where they will visit Port Vale on Saturday 21st January 2023.
