Sofyan Amrabat was one of a number (feels likes thousands) of midfielders linked with Liverpool during and after the World Cup.
Various reports even suggested that Jurgen Klopp met with Amrabat’s representatives in an attempt to coux the player towards Anfield.
Amrabat had an exceptional World Cup, including a memorable lung bursting run to tackle Kylian Mbappe, another player linked to Liverpool once upon a time, late on in the semi-final.
Speaking to the Empire of the Kop previously, Foot Mercato’s Anas Bakhkhar lent further credibility to the rumours, stating, “Yes, there were very good and positive meetings between the parties and it can only be good if they are talking and the sporting director of Liverpool is involved too, for Amrabat and for Liverpool”.
Now Gerard Romero via The Barca Times on Twitter, a respected La Liga journalist, has claimed that Amrabat is expected to join Barcelona on loan. There is no obligation on Barcelona to buy Amrabat from Fiorentina according to Romero.
🚨🎖| Barça are looking to Amrabat TOMORROW. He would arrive on a loan with a non-mandatory purchase option. In summer, the club will decide whether to BUY him permanently or not. [@gerardromero] #fcblive 🇲🇦 pic.twitter.com/SRS5vjjJwI
