Gavi, known as one of Blaugrana’s hottest prospects, has been reduced to a youth contract and had his number 6 shirt stripped from him.

La Liga have blocked Gavi’s registration as a Barcelona senior player in an ongoing dispute between both parties, which includes a whole manner of issues for the youngster.

The biggest development that may entice Liverpool to pursue a deal for the young Spaniard is that a release clause allowing him to depart Barcelona for free is now in play, according to The Athletic.

Liverpool are known to be on the lookout for a midfield fix and have registered their interest in Gavi to be a major part of Liverpool’s summer revamp.

Though, Barcelona have told The Athletic they plan on taking action in this legal matter.

Still, the breaking news will have Jurgen Klopp on red alert.

The 18-year-old has now played a host of games for the Spanish stalwarts and would bring a wealth of elite-level experience with him despite his ripe age.

Gavi has also proved the hype on the international stage as he has accrued 17 appearances for his national team, Spain, and scored three goals in the process.

A discounted price would have ignited potential suitors, but Barcelona will be nothing short of interest for Gavi, given that he is able to leave the club on a free transfer.

Whether Gavi will choose to leave his boyhood club on such poor terms is another matter, and Barcelona will be working tirelessly behind the scenes to resolve the situation in order to hold on to one of their most prized possessions.

If Liverpool were to acquire a player with a ceiling as high as anyone’s for nothing would be a stroke of genius.
